Abstract
The Kite Runner merupakan salah satu novel karya Khaled Hosseini yang fenomenal. Karya sastra ini mengangkat isu sosial yang berkaitan erat dengan budaya yang ada di Afganistan, terutama di Kabul melalui cerita hidup seorang Amir dan Hasan. Melalui cerita hidup Amir dan Hasan yang sarat dengan konflik tersirat pandangan hidup dan adat yang sangat berbeda antara kaum Pasthun dan Hazara. Artikel ini akan mengupas lebih dalam tentang pandangan hidup kaum Pasthun dan Hazara dengan pengaplikasikan culture criticism terhadap karya satra. Culture criticism merupakan studi tentang budaya yang ada di dalam sebuah karya sastra. Dengan pengaplikasian Culture criticism, diharapkan budaya yang tercermin dalam karya sastra bisa terkaji dengan lebih dalam.

Abstrak
The Kite Runner is a phenomenal novel written by Khaled Hosseini. This literary work raises social issues that closely related to the Afghanistan’s culture, especially in Kabul through the life story of Amir and Hassan. The ridden-conflict coloured their life story implied a contrastive life view and customs between Pashtun and Hazara. This article will explore more about the world view of the Pashtun and Hazara by applying culture criticism. It is the study of culture in a literary work. By applying culture criticism, it is expected that the culture reflected in the literatury works can be explored deeper.
