Abstrak
Lagu termasuk salah satu karya sastra yang terdiri dari rangkaian kata-kata indah dan disuarakan dengan nada-nada tertentu. Salah satu jenis lagu yang mempunyai karakteristik khas mencerminkan kepribadian bangsa Indonesia adalah lagu-lagu mars perguruan tinggi. Karakteristik yang dimaksud adalah style atau gaya bahasa yang digunakan. Oleh karena itu peneliti tertarik meneliti diksi dan gaya bahasa dalam lagu mars perguruan tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan karakter bangsa Indonesia melalui diksi dan gaya bahasa pada lagu mars perguruan tinggi. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif didukung oleh penelitian semantik stilistika. Dengan mendeskripsikan diksi dan gaya bahasa dalam lagu mars perguruan tinggi sebagai bentuk karakter bangsa Indonesia maka dihasilkan pendeskripsian, pilihan kata dalam bahasa Jawa, pilihan kata penggugah semangat , pilihan kata khas Indonesia, dan gaya bahasa metafora yang menunjukkan semangat untuk bangsa Indonesia.

Abstract
The song is one of the literary work consists of a series of beautiful words and voiced by certain tones. One type of songs that have distinctive characteristics reflect the personality of the Indonesian nation is a university march song. The characteristics meant in this case is language
style applied. Therefore, the researcher is interested in examining the diction and language style in college. This research is aimed at describing characters of Indonesian people. This research applies descriptive qualitative approach supported by stylistic semantics. As the result, the language style used in march’s song are the description of Javanese
diction, motivational words, Indonesian orinally words, and metaphors showing motivation and passion for the people of Indonesia.
