Abstrak
Mitos adalah bentuk warisan cerita tertentu dari tradisi lisan yang dapat diinterpretasikan dalam urutan simbolis semesta alam atau ketertiban umum. Legenda (Kosodate Yuurei) (Jepang) dan Kuntilanak (Indonesia) memiliki simbol yang sama dan digambarkan dalam bentuk serupa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Jepang dan Indonesia 1) jenis yang terkandung dalam mitos kedua adalah mitos legenda simbolis. 2) Persepsi tentang legenda Jepang (Ko-sodate Yuurei) adalah positif, dan opini publik terhadap legenda Kuntilanak Indonesia adalah negatif.

Abstract
Myth is an inherited form of certain stories from oral tradition that can be interpreted in a symbolic order of the Worlds or the public order. Legend (Kosodate Yuurei) (Japan) and Kuntilanak (Indonesia) has the same symbols and depicted in a similar form. The results of this study indicate that the Japanese society and Indonesia are 1) the type contained in the second myth is the myth symbolic legend. 2) Perceptions of Japan's legend (Ko-sodate Yuurei) is positive, and public opinion against the legend Kuntilanak Indonesia is negative.
