The study involved two female students who had mastered the necessary prerequisite material. Research instruments included conjecture construction tests and interviews, which were analyzed based on these conjecture construction indicators: 1) problem identification and exploration, 2) formulating conjectures, 3) testing and refining conjectures, and 4) proving conjectures. Results showed that, in the problem identification and exploration stage, students identified what was asked in the question, determined the information needed to answer it, and explored examples using GeoGebra. One student independently identified a pattern, while the other required an explanation. In the conjecture formulation stage, both students needed guidance to construct a general conjecture. Both students tested their conjectures, though only one needed to refine it. Initially, proof was conducted through examples; ultimately, both students succeeded in generalizing their proofs.
2024-11-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematikahttps://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/4799Exploration of Prospective Mathematics Teachers' Computational Thinking Abilities in Solving Quadratic Equation and Function Problems Based on Learning Styles2024-07-20T13:56:44+00:00Azza Shafaa Namiraa410200149@student.ums.ac.idMasdukimasduki@ums.ac.id
Teachers must be capable of shaping individuals who can adapt to computational thinking skills. Learning styles impact students' performance and learning outcomes. This study examine the computational thinking abilities of prospective mathematics teachers from the perspective of visual, auditory, kinesthetic learning styles. A qualitative approach was used in this study, specifically a case study research design. The subjects of this study were first-semester students in the Mathematics Education program enrolled in the Basic Mathematics course. Research instruments: written tests, learning style questionnaires, interviews. The test questions were validated by three mathematics education experts and piloted with four students. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that learning style influenced students' computational thinking skills. Kinesthetic students demonstrated proficiency across all indicators of computational thinking ability. Visual and auditory students struggled with algorithmic thinking and pattern recognition. However, visual and auditory students, like kinesthetic students, performed well in abstraction and decomposition.
2024-12-02T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematikahttps://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/5008Development of a STEAM Teaching Module Assisted by Robotics Activities Drive Up a Slope to Enhance Middle School Students' 4C Skills2024-11-05T05:03:21+00:00Henrikus Yoga Yuniantohendrikusyog@gmail.comAdhi Surya Nugrahayohanesadhisn@gmail.com
Integrating mathematics with other fields is necessary for students to tackle real-world problems. Incorporating technology and engineering, such as robotic activities, into science and mathematics teaching offers the potential to improve learning outcomes and enhance students’ 4C (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication) skills. This study aims to design and develop a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) teaching module supported by the robotics activity Drive Up a Slope for middle school students and evaluate its feasibility and practicality in enhancing students' 4C skills. The development process of the teaching module follows the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The results of this development indicate that the quality of the teaching module is categorized as highly valid, with a validity percentage of 94.64%, and highly practical, with a practicality percentage of 90%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed teaching module is both valid and practical.
2024-12-05T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika
