Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected from 160 seventh-grade students in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, through a four-tier diagnostic test. Analysis revealed that 28% of students had misconceptions, categorized into six types. Additionally, 11% showed false positives, 12% false negatives, 44% lacked knowledge, and only 5% had a correct scientific understanding. The identified six types of misconceptions included fundamental algebraic concepts such as variable degree, variable concepts, coefficients, constants, and inequality notation. Students struggled with algorithm use, function generalization, and properties of inequalities, indicating a lack of algebraic thinking. These findings highlight the need for targeted instructional strategies to address students' conceptual misunderstandings and improve their mathematical reasoning.
2025-02-20T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika https://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/5374 The Use of Multiplication Cards in Improving Students’ Math Multiplication Learning Outcomes 2025-02-05T08:01:31+00:00 Monasritha Amalia monasrithaa@gmail.com Djatmiko Hidajat djatmikohidajat@gmail.com
Media innovation in math learning is essential to improving student understanding. This study aims to assess the improvement in students' math learning outcomes using multiplication card media. This research follows a classroom action research design consisting of three cycles. The research subjects were 13 fifth-grade students from SD Negeri Wironanggan 02. Three types of questions were used to measure student learning outcomes. The results indicated an improvement in student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the average learning outcome was 58.462, increasing to 76.538 in Cycle II and 93.077 in Cycle III. The gain score between Cycle I and Cycle II was 0.435 (43.5%), which further increased to 0.705 (70.5%) between Cycle II and Cycle III. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of multiplication card media in learning enhances the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Wironanggan 02.
2025-03-17T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika https://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/5590 Project-Based Learning in Mathematics Classrooms: How It Improves Students' Problem-Solving Skills 2025-05-13T04:06:52+00:00 Heri Purnomo heripurnomo.dr@gmail.com Abdul Halim Abdullah p-halim@utm.my Pangestika Nur Afnia pangestikanurafnia@uny.ac.id Abdullah Ash Shiddieqy abdullahshiddieqy06@guru.smp.belajar.id
The aim of this research is to determine whether Project-Based Learning (PjBL) affects middle school students' ability to solve mathematical problems during the learning process. This research is mix-method research with explanatory sequential design, namely the data is analyzed quantitatively first and continued with descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of the test indicated a t-value of 2.7354 with a p-value of 0.007751 (which is less than 0.05), signifying a significant difference of the experimental group and the control group after the treatment was applied. PjBL has an influence in improving problem solving of middle school students. Students can identify important elements in a problem, create appropriate problem representations, use relevant knowledge and skills to solve problems, and are able to interpret relevant results and conclusions. This study suggests that PjBL provides an impact on meaningful learning experiences and in-depth learning.
2025-06-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika https://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/4476 The Effect of GeoGebra-Assisted E-Modules on Students' Ability to Solve Problems Mathematically 2024-07-20T15:07:02+00:00 Arvin Efriani arvinefriani_uin@radenfatah.ac.id Sujinal Arifin sujinal@radenfatah.ac.id Nanda Salsabila nandaslsaaa15@gmail.com
This research implements a posttest-only control group experimental design to examine the impact of a GeoGebra-integrated e-module on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. A sample of 68 eighth-grade learners at SMP Negeri 57 Palembang participated in the study, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group utilized an interactive e-module featuring GeoGebra software integration, while the control group received conventional instruction. The results showed that students who used the e-module achieved significantly better outcomes in problem recognition, strategy development, implementation of solutions, and outcome assessment. The mean posttest results obtained by the experimental group were higher than those of the control group. A t-test confirmed a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Based on statistical analysis, integrating GeoGebra within a structured digital module demonstrates potential to strengthen students' conceptual understanding, engagement, and problem-solving skills, especially in learning straight-line equations. Furthermore, the approach promotes higher-order thinking and learner autonomy, offering a promising strategy for improving mathematics instruction at the junior high school level.
2025-06-02T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika https://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/5605 CORE Model in Improving Students' Mathematical Representation Ability Based on Cognitive Style 2025-05-19T06:44:17+00:00 Asa Raila Salam Asarailas26@gmail.com Hikmatul Khusna hikmatulhusna@uhamka.ac.id
This studynalyzes the effects of the CORE learning model on the mathematical representation abilities of junior high school students based on Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) cognitive styles. Using a quasi-experimental methodology, this study involved 68 eighth-grade students from SMPN 169 Jakarta, divided into an experimental group using the CORE model and a control group with conventional learning. Study instruments included GEFT and mathematical representation ability tests. ANOVA analysis results indicate significant differences (F=48.655; p<0.05) between these groups, with the highest mean values in the FD experimental group (8.53), followed by the FI experimental group (7.84), FD control group (6.31), and FI control group (4.44). This study proves that the CORE learning model provides a significant effects in improving students' mathematical representation abilities, especially when combined with their cognitive styles.
2025-06-10T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika https://journal.unipdu.ac.id/index.php/jmpm/article/view/3395 Comparison Between Neural Network and Grey System Models for Cooking Oil Price 2025-04-25T14:50:45+00:00 Fastha Aulia Pradhani fasthaaulia@stiesia.ac.id Muktar Redy Susila muktarredysusila@stiesia.ac.id Ingka Rizkyani Akolo inkarizkyani05@gmail.com
Cooking oil is one of the primary raw materials used in Indonesia. In this study, a comparison of the two forecasting models from the two methods, namely Neural Network and Grey System, was carried out. Forecasting is carried out on cooking oil raw materials, namely CPO production volume and demand for related products, namely biodiesel, to analyze changes in cooking oil prices. The appropriate forecasting model is expected to be able to describe the pattern of cooking oil price fluctuations for the following few periods. The criteria for selecting the best model use the minimum MAPE testing value. The results show that the Grey System method produces the best forecasting model for biodiesel demand data with a small amount of data, while for the CPO variable, which has a larger amount of data, the best model is obtained using the Neural Network model, with the MLP (3-3-1) architecture.
2025-07-03T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JMPM: Jurnal Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika
